Antimicrobial and quorum sensing inhibitory activities of the pericarp of Garcinia mangostana

A prenylated xanthone, ?-mangostin was separated from the alcoholic extract of Garcinia mangostana pericarp. Its structure was established by different spectroscopic analysis. The total methanolic extract (TME) and different fractions of G. mangostana pericarp as well as ?-mangostin were assessed for their antimicrobial and quorum sensing inhibitory effects (QSI).
